For Steam users:
Launch the game from within the Steam platform. You will see a screen similar to this.

After pressing "New", you will be redirected to the character creation screen.
For players that do not use Steam:
When launching the game, you will see a screen like in the following image:

Type the name of the new account. This name is the account name and is not visible to other players.
Type a password and then repeat the password for confirmation.
You may choose to also give an email to receive notifications and enable the "Recover account" function, but it is not required.
After you type the required information, press the "Create account" button. You will be redirected to the character creation screen.
The character creation screen
After entering the game for the first time, you will have to create a character. This is your main lord, your avatar, and the only one you get to build yourself, so, take your time.
After you are done configuring the lord, give it a name. This is the in-game name, which will be visible to everyone. By default, it will be the same as the account name, but you can choose another.
This name must be unique, so you will not be able to proceed if a lord with the same name already exists.
Finalize the character creation process by clicking the green button below the lord name input field, as indicated in the image below.
